Playoff Rules

Playoffs
Playoff Settings
  • 6 Teams will be eligible for the playoffs.
  • Week 15 will be the start of the playoffs - 1 week per playoff game.
  • Week 17 will be the Championship game

Playoff Eligibility
  • The winner of each division would be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs regardless of head-to-head record.
  • The top 2 teams (best head-to-head records) will get the first round bye.
  • The next three slots will be based on “Head-to-Head” records. (tie-breakers will be determined by total points scored)
  • The final playoff spot will be based on “Total Points Scored” by team. (tie-breakers will be determined by head-to-head record)
  • Head-to-head records will determine rankings in playoffs.

Playoff Rankings
  1. Top Division Leader (First-Round Bye)
  2. Best Head-to-Head Record and/or 2nd Division Leader {if same team} (First-Round Bye)
  3. Head-to-Head record
  4. Head-to-Head record
  5. Head-to-Head record
  6. Best Total Points Scored

Divisions will be randomly selected on draft day.

Playoff Match-ups
  • The highest seeded team will always play the lowest seeded team.
  • The second highest seeded team will play the second lowest seeded team.
  • Playoff brackets in ESPN do not always match these rules.

Playoff Tie-Breaker Rules
  • As voted, we will follow ESPN’s rules for Tie-Breakers in the Post-Season. As outlined here:
  • The system does not observe your league's Regular Season tiebreaker rule during the playoffs. Rather, in the event that two teams have the same number of points at the conclusion of their playoff game, the system tiebreaker awards the win to the higher seeded team.

Toilet Bowl Championship
The bottom 4 teams will be eligible for the toilet bowl championship.

Here's the rules:
  • All 4 teams that are not in the playoffs are starting with a clean slate.
  • All 4 teams will compete against each other for the first 2 weeks of the playoffs. There will be NO head-to-head match-ups in Weeks 1 & 2 of the playoffs.
  • The total points scored for each team will be tallied at the end of the two weeks.
  • The two teams with the lowest TOTAL points over those 2 weeks will battle it out in the Toilet Bowl Championship.
  • The remaining teams will play each other for 7th and 8th place.
  • The winner of the Toilet Bowl Championship will be marked as 9th place.
  • The LOSER of the Toilet Bowl Championship will be the TOILET BOWL WINNER and will win the coveted Toilet Bowl Trophy.

Please note: there will be head-to-head match-ups in ESPN... but you can disregard those. All 4 teams are competing against each other for total points scored.

Team Name for Toilet Bowl Champion: The league will come up with a team name for the Toilet Bowl Champion that the team must use the FOLLOWING year. The league manager has final say on the name chosen. If name is TOO questionable, the league manager reserves the right to veto the name.

The following year the Toilet Bowl Champion will use the selected name for his team for the first six weeks of the season. IF the team has at LEAST a 3-3 record, at the conclusion of week 6, then the team can change their name to whatever they choose. If their record is worse than 3-3, then they must keep the team name for the remainder of the season.

The No Show Party Foul - Name Change
Any no shows to the league party will be eligible for a owners voted new team name. Ouch. IF the team has at LEAST a 3-3 record, at the conclusion of week 6, then the team can change their name to whatever they choose. If their record is worse than 3-3, then they must keep the team name for the remainder of the season.

Terms & Conditions
Every attempt has been made for complete accuracy of the above. However, the League Manager reserves the right to correct the above information at any time, with or without written notice to the team owners.

For any new rules or procedures that come up for voting, any team that does not vote by the arranged deadline transfers their vote to the League Manager. The League Manager will vote accordingly.
