Week 6 Recap - When Fantasy Meets Reality

10/21/2016

Contributing Writer: Janelle Caballero of Packing Heat

In the world of fantasy football, all sorts of things equate to points: receiving yards, passing yards, rushing yards, sacks, points allowed, fumbles, etc. But what if fantasy football scoring was contingent on your players scoring actual points in the game? This week’s recap breaks down fantasy vs. reality scores, and shows how small a margin those victories really are. "Reality scores" are tallied with only touchdowns (passing, rushing & receiving), field goals, extra points and 2-point conversions. Let’s see what happens when fantasy meets reality.
Lloyd Dobler breaks out the BOOM box on Packing Heat
Fantasy score: 115 – 83 (32-point margin)
Reality score:   29 - 21 (8-point margin)
Game Highlights: Although Packing Heat showed some promise in the first 4 weeks of the season, their defense was just giving up too many point (776!). They lost 4 close games in which they scored 100+ points. The last 2 weeks have been a different story though and their team fizzled, scoring a measly 80+ points. The Heat are still looking for their first win of the season. Meanwhile, Lloyd Dobler has been consistent in both offense and defense, and once again had a strong outing from Ezekiel Elliott, while Coby Fleener gave them his first high scoring week with 2 TDs.

Sing it, Lloyd. Sing it.

Prickly Prancin tramples Obi Juan Kenobi
Fantasy score: 130-73 (57-point margin)
Reality score: 40 – 23 (17-point margin)
Game Highlights: After losing in Week 1, Obi Juan Kenobi had a 3-game winning streak. That streak was broken in week 5, and now they are on a 2-game losing streak. Aaron Rodgers has not been looking like himself these days, but did pass for 1 TD. The only other TD scoring player on the Kenobi’s was LeGarrette Blount. Meanwhile, Odell Beckham Jr lit up the football field with 2 TDs and 222 yards. Just another performance that solidifies Prickly Prancin’s need to keep him for as long as possible. Will Prickly Prancin continue their winning streak in week 7 or will Packing Heat finally get a win?

Here come the ponies.

F Troop Care Bears grabs Kashyyk Wookies by the tail
Fantasy score: 92-63 (29-point margin)
Reality score:  33-25 (8-point margin)
Game Highlights: The defending champions, the Kashyyk Wookies have not been the formidable force they were a season ago. In fact, their 4-2 record is quite deceiving. The Wookies offense has been pretty mediocre, scoring only 600 points on the season. The only team they’ve outscored this season is the Heisman crew. This week was no exception, scoring a meager 65 points, the Wookies were easily defeated by the Care Bears. The bright spot on the Wookies team, is Lamar Miller who scored 2 TDs with another 180 yards rushing/receiving. The Care Bears on the other hand started the season minus their dynamic duo: Brady and Gronk. Whether you believe in magic or not, those 2 put on a show this week with a combined 61 points. Care Bears hope to ride the magic train the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, the Wookies are looking as formidable as this guy.

Ertz when Eifert puts the hurt on Kiss My Heisman
Fantasy score: 115 - 84 (31-point margin)
Reality score: 42 – 27 (15-point margin)
Game Highlights: What can you say about Ertz? Well, they have been putting the HURT on everyone so far this season. A solid team all around, their offense has scored 813 points on the season. Making them first in the league in scoring. Their defense has helped (really just the luck of the draw)  as they only have allowed 532 points, second to only the Wookies. Once again Ertz put the beat down on their opponent, and took the wind out of the sails for the Heisman. Kiss was trying for their 2nd win of the season. It didn’t happen. Can Obi Juan Kenobi finally stop the Ertz winning streak in week 7? As Princess Leia once said, “Obi Juan Kenobi, you’re our only hope.”

Obi Juan Kenobi, duty calls.

Golden One refuses to take 50 Shades of Caitlyn out for drinks
Fantasy score: 113 - 89 (24-point margin)
Reality score: 36 – 31 (5-point margin = closest score yet)
Game Highlights: This Chili’s loving duo faced off in week 6 with a little bit of trash talking and trade talks to keep things interesting. (see smackboard) 50 Shades was grateful to have Cam Newton back in action, but even with his 30 points, it just wasn’t enough. To make matters worse, Sammie Coates was a total disappointment. After scoring 33 points in week 5, Coates put up a big ol’ goose egg in week 6. Golden One’s Marcus Mariota and LeSean McCoy each scored 33 points to seal the W over Caitlyn. The victory for Golden One brought them up to a .500 record on the season. Meanwhile, Caitlyn might want to rethink their team name, since it’s clearly not working for them this season.

Straight Outta Goffton blasts "Ram I Am" straight outta Compton
Fantasy score: 145 - 85 (60-point margin)
Reality score: 44 – 32 (12-point margin)
Game Highlights: It was an easy, Breesy day for Ram I Am, but sadly for them, the team fell short. Brees threw for an impressive 465 yards and 4 TDs, but the rest of the team was MIA. Alshon Jeffrey was the only player to score more than 6 points on the team. It’s a sad day when your defense outscores both of your running backs (combined). Meanwhile, Goffton continued their roller coaster season with a whopping 145 points.  With alternating high and low scoring weeks, Lloyd Dobler is hoping that the SOG roller coaster is on its way down again in week 7.

Straight Outta Goffton be like....
